Switzerland’s factory activity contraction deepened in October: the Procure.ch and Credit Suisse Manufacturing PMI dropped to 40.6 in October 2023 from 44.9 in September, when a rise to 45.0 was forecast. Readings above 50.0 indicate industry expansion, below indicate contraction. The index remained contractionary for the tenth month.

Switzerland’s factory activity contraction deepened in October: the Procure.ch and Credit Suisse Manufacturing PMI dropped to 40.6 in October 2023 from 44.9 in September, when a rise to 45.0 was forecast. Readings above 50.0 indicate industry expansion, below indicate contraction. The index remained contractionary for the tenth month. Subindexes for production, new orders and purchasing volumes all recorded accelerated declines. Employment levels entered contractionary territory. This is bullish for USDCHF. However the current setup is bearish for the pair.
