Toyota Motor's global sales dropped 7% in February from a year earlier. Heavy decline in China due to Lunar Year holidays and a slump in Japan after a safety test scandal at its small car unit were main drivers for the global sales drop. Sales in China - the world's biggest auto market - fell 36%, partially due to the week-long Lunar New Year holiday which took place in February this year while last year it occurred in January. For January and February combined, however, the sales decline in China was just 0.7%. Toyota's global output for February also declined - 2.6% to 737,178 vehicles. Lower car sales and production are bearish for Toyota stock price.
